Staff Information

Fran Bolin: Executive Director, Assisting Families of Inmates

Ms. Bolin has a B.A. in Social Work from Meredith College and a Master's degree in Social Work, with a concentration in Planning and Administration, from Virginia Commonwealth University. While attaining her M.S.W. she worked as a juvenile justice research intern for the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. She has worked with policy professionals on such issues as child abuse and neglect, juvenile competency, the needs of children with incarcerated parents and most recently, offender re-entry into the community. Before joining the staff of AFOI, in January, 2001, Ms. Bolin worked as a Local Probation Officer for Community Corrections Services in Chesterfield County.

Kristen Hesler: Program Coordinator, Milk & Cookies Program

Ms. Hesler joined the AFOI staff in May, 2008 as the Program Coordinator for the expanded MAC Program at the Bellemeade, Oak Grove and Woodville sites. She holds a dual degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Along with other experiences, Ms. Hesler has worked with this population of children as she served as a mentor for the All God’s Children Summer Camp at Westview on the James in Goochland. She is a full-time AFOI employee who is dedicated to the expansion of our services within the Richmond community.

Jennifer Moreno: Program Coordinator, Milk & Cookies Program

Ms. Moreno has been the Program Coordinator for the MAC Program since October, 2004 (Blackwell, Swansboro, Summer Hill and Ruffin Road sites). She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked previously as a Program Assistant with Assisting Families of Inmates and also has experience as a mentor with the Carver Promise program in Richmond. She is a full-time AFOI employee who is dedicated to MAC’s project activities and ongoing service delivery.

Alvina Mathis: Program Assistant, Assisting Families of Inmates

Ms. Mathis became a member of our staff in April, 2006. She provides administrative support to the Executive Director and to the MAC Program Coordinators. She assists with the day-to-day agency management and program operations. Ms. Mathis interacts with clients on a daily basis and hers is the friendly voice you will most likely encounter if you contact our office! Ms. Mathis holds college credits from Hampton University, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
